Yoga – Yin Yang Yoga

About The Class

Yin Yang Yoga offers a harmonious blend of flowing movement and deep, mindful stillness. The first half of the class awakens your body with a breath practice and light flow, warming up muscles and preparing your body and mind. In the second half, you settle into longer-held, grounded postures that target connective tissue, allowing for deep release and restoration.

This practice supports both strength and relaxation, engaging muscles when needed, then turning inward to calm the mind and nourish the fascia.

A balanced practice suitable for all levels, blending energising movement with deep, grounding stillness.

Each class starts with breathwork to centre the mind and prime the body, encouraging mindfulness from the start.

A gentle flow sequence warms you up, aligns your body, and readies the muscles and joints for deeper work, basically getting the wiggles out so we can better sit in stillness!

In the latter part of the session, you move into sustained, somewhat passive postures. These longer holds are designed to gently stress the fascia and connective tissues, promoting flexibility and resilience. Props are often used to support the body. However, we do still aim to feel some sensation, this is not an entirely restorative class.

Many poses are done close to, or on, the floor, meaning you spend more time in stillness, supported by soft props if needed. This encourages both physical release and mental calm.

The class emphasises releasing tension in the body beyond just the muscles, working on the deeper structures (fascia) to encourage joint health and long-term mobility.

The slower, reflective nature of the Yin portion creates space for introspection and meditation. Many students leave feeling calmer, more balanced, and refreshed. After each Yin pose, a short rebound is taken to feel the benefit of the pose.

This class is accessible to beginners and more seasoned yogis alike. Modifications and support will be offered, for example, using bolsters or blankets to make the deeper holds comfortable and effective.
